Postural Restoration (PRI)

This technique is designed to help the body restore a neutral posture by eliminating unwanted muscle tension. Postural restoration may be used in conjunction with traditional Physical therapy treatment methods.

Postural Restoration (PRI) Overview

Postural Restoration, often referred to as PRI, is a unique approach to physical therapy that emphasizes the importance of balance and alignment in the body’s musculoskeletal system. Developed by the Postural Restoration Institute, this method recognizes that the human body is inherently asymmetrical, meaning specific muscles and structures tend to become overactive or underactive, leading to postural and movement imbalances. This imbalance will result in pain.

Is Postural Restoration Right for You?

Are you experiencing persistent pain, discomfort, or restricted movement that won’t go away? If you struggle with issues like chronic pain, limited mobility, or an ongoing sense of imbalance, PRI might hold the answers you’ve been seeking.

PRI is a specialized approach to physical therapy that identifies and addresses the imbalances that can develop in our bodies due to movement or positional patterns we develop over time. We all move in patterns throughout our day, as they are ‘easy’ and ‘routine’. Our brain likes to move in the most effortless ways. These ways will allow strong muscles to become stronger, but the weak muscles then become weaker.  This development of imbalances creates pain.

Our dedicated team of skilled therapists at Family Physical Therapy is here to evaluate your unique situation, understanding that every individual’s body is different. By employing PRI techniques, we aim to restore balance, alleviate pain, and enhance your overall quality of life. Reach out to us today for a personalized assessment, and let’s work together to bring back comfort, mobility, and promote wellness.
